Content Developer (Schools)

What we’re looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about content development and student learning; someone who wants to develop their skills and learn from new experiences developing online learning resources.

Reporting to the Team Lead - Content Development, this crucial position will support Cengage’s content development for the School division. Candidates interested in this position should ideally have a working knowledge of the Higher Education, VET and/or School market, including trends in digital materials, editorial processes, strong content development and author liaison experience.

The ideal candidate will preferably have educational publishing experience and market awareness throughout Australia, with a strong passion for reimagining print to digital content. This role involves designing, developing, and partnering with Product Managers to create innovative learning experiences. The candidate will have strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing a number of projects at once.

Responsibilities:
As the Content Developer (School), you will work closely with the Team Lead - Secondary to ensure our market focused products and resources meet customer value and quality expectations.

• Prepare clear and reliable briefing documents for designers and platform developers
• Implement the product development process
• Manage the transmittal process of content and liaise with Production and Platform teams
• Participate in the project/author planning meetings and prepare content plans
• Strategically select and engage freelancers
• Ensure digital product requirements are produced and integrated
• Work closely with cross-functional teams in the development of content to ensure products meet market needs in terms of coverage, quality and approach
• Communicate key product and market developmental issues
• Initiate and prepare text, assessment and other relevant briefs
• Ensure adherence to Cengage Quality of Learning Principles

Attributes:
• Appropriate tertiary qualification
• Experience in a publishing company or the education space
• Proven editorial or content design experience
• Knowledge of Secondary or Higher education markets throughout Australia including trends in use of digital material
• Exposure to education areas related to the Key Portfolios subject matters e.g. legal studies, health, cultural safety, technology
• Ability to understand customers’ needs
• An interest in learning design
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent organisational and project management skills
