How do levelled texts work? In this session we will unpack the highly successful PM levelling criteria underpinning the levelling system across 30 levels. Participants will examine the development of a balanced reader and how to use levelled texts to explicitly teach reading.
The session will cover:
- The criteria underlying the gradient of difficulty as students move through the 30 levels
- What needs to be taught within levels to move students from one level to the next
- How to effectively place students at a level so that teaching and learning are maximised
