The topic in snack pack 1 is ‘Either you like it or not’, and deals with how to say your favourites and least favourites in categories such as food, drinks, hobbies, celebrities, Japanese traditional games, just to name a few. Furthermore, it showcases the life of Shun, an 11-year old Japanese student, and follows him in his house and at school.
Sue has authored a number of published works, including the Obento Snack Pack and Deluxe series. Sue has vast experience in teaching, writing and presenting Japanese language learning material. Sue currently teaches Japanese at St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill in Sydney. Sue has previously managed The Nihongo Tanken Centre and she has also lectured in Languages Education at the University of Technology, Sydney and Sydney University.
A feature of the text is the use of meta-cognition techniques where the students will be able to comment on their knowledge and appreciation via multiple viewing of videos and listening to songs and word repetition
In line with the Essential Learning, cultural information will be contextualised and require the student to deduce and draw conclusions. This material will be embedded in the text and in the teacher presentation CD-ROM.
