A flexible inquiry-based approach for word-conscious classroom
Effective Spelling is a suite of resources for Foundation to Year 6, designed to support teachers to develop effective, competent spellers who are curious about words and how they are connected.
Christine will discuss the key ideas in Effective Spelling, including:
• using an inquiry approach to teach spelling, with meaning at the core
• a structure for a spelling learning sequence, based on the gradual-release model
• the five key spelling strategies students need to be an effective speller
• using Word Noticing Books to consolidate students’ spelling knowledge and as a resource for writing.
There will be a Q&A with Christine following her presentation.
