Our Land, Our Stories is a landmark series exploring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, peoples and cultures. The series, developed in partnership with AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Studies), includes rare and historically important photos, artwork and audio-visual resources with many texts and stories written by leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors.
The series was created to:
- depict both historical and contemporary representations of urban, rural and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- celebrate contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and address prevailing misconceptions
- address the lack of comprehensive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educational resources in Australian primary schools
The Our Land, Our Stories Lower/Middle/Upper Primary resource pack contains:
- Teacher's Resource Book
- Three Big Books covering the themes of Country/Place, Culture and People
- Six copies each of fifteen cards, five for each theme (Country/Place, Culture, People)
- The Little Red Yellow Black Book, the perfect companion for teachers to learn more about the rich cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and culture
- a NEW Student Activity Book, full of engaging and fascinating activities for students, enabling them to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the content in the series.
There is a QR code in this Student Activity Book that allows you to download and print the activity sheets for your students.
