This webinar will draw on resources from across the Our Land, Our Stories series to demonstrate how it can support your planning and teaching in the lead-up to National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week. Guided by the National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024 – ‘Now More Than Ever’ – the webinar will explore this timely reminder to continue to fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
You will learn how to use resources from Our Land, Our Stories to:
- support students to appreciate the significance of Reconciliation through truth-telling of our country’s history, with a focus on the Stolen Generations and the National Apology
- share stories of significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have pioneered the path to Reconciliation in the twentieth century
- tackle racism and build the cultural competency in your classroom
- investigate past and continuing steps towards Reconciliation.

Drawing inspiration from this theme, which celebrates the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, this webinar will demonstrate how Our Land, Our Stories can support your planning and teaching in the lead-up to NAIDOC Week.

- support students’ understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connection to Country, to each other and to long-standing and diverse traditions
- learn from stories that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples standing tall in their heritage
- respond to the call to reclaim narratives, amplify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ voices and commit to justice and equality.
