Tim Sloane is currently Head Science Teacher Science at Concord High School in Sydney. He has taught HSC Biology for over 20 years in a range of New South Wakes state schools. He provides professional development for organisations including the Science Teachers Association of NSW and the Centre for Professional Learning. Tim’s focus is on supporting students to write high-quality responses and depth studies mapped to performance band descriptors. He has created high-quality educational resources across print and digital for teachers and students. Prior to his teaching career, Tim was a successfully published research scientist working in the field of cardiovascular disease.
Mathew Sloane has been a scientist and educator for 20 years in universities, research institutes and museums. Since receiving his PhD in molecular genetics from Vienna University in 2008, he has applied his research in the fields of cancer, epigenetics, evolutionary biology and wildlife conservation. Mathew completed his Bachelor of Teaching (secondary) in 2014. From 2016 to 2021 he was an educator at the Australian Museum in Sydney, where he designed and delivered lessons and digital resources for primary and high school students. Mathew is continuing his passion for learning and teaching through the practice of science as the Education Program Manager at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
