Mya Skirving studied a Bachelor of Education at Newcastle University and a Master of Science - Science Education, Curtin University. Subsequently she has taught Level 2 Science and Head of year in schools in Sydney, before relocating to Perth. She currently teaches year 11 and 12 ATAR Biology and has been a WACE marker for SCSA since 2013. At Perth Modern School she has held the position of science curriculum coordinator/programing role for the duration and I set up the senior Biology course three times for three different syllabuses.She had the privilege of teaching 3 students awarded with our state’s subject exhibition certificate in 2015, 2017, 2018. Along with several certificates of distinction in this subject area. Mya has also worked with the Teacher Advocate for Department of Ed WA. Role involved educating/enticing university students to seek a career in teaching.
Helen Lydon is an advocate for the study of biology in Western Australia, where she has taught and examined Biology and other Sciences for over twenty years in both private and public schools, and chaired advisory committees for the School Curriculum and Standards Authority. She is delighted to collaborate with Mya on this outstanding new text.
