NEW! Tsukurimashoo! sections. With all new text types, use them for putting what you have learnt together, and for practising reading, writing and speaking
Itadakimasu – introduces the new language through a manga-style cartoon strip, recorded on audio CD
Donna aji? – develops the new language through listening and speaking exercises
Benkyoo no Ben – hiragana and katakana are introduced incrementally as learners venture through the units. The order of hiragana and katakana introduction has been decided by the vocabulary and functions that appear in the units, not by the order they appear on the hiragana/katakana charts. This methodology is key to the entire Obento suite of resources, and is one of its biggest strengths
Gohan to okazu – provides a grammar and vocabulary reference, supported by examples (detailed grammar explanations are provided in Setsumei at the back of the book)
Teeburu manaa – presents cultural and intercultural information and stimulus material, along with new Have a think and Have a go questions for class discussion and follow up activities
Ohashi – strategies for learning, remembering and understanding Japanese
Oshooyu – provides colloquial expressions and related vocabulary
Okashi – presents songs and raps
