There have been key changes to the new syllabus including:
A new approach to assessment, including a final external examination in Year 12 for General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics that will count for 50% of a student's course assessment
A renewed focus on problem solving, mathematical modelling and digital technology
Stronger monitoring of school-based assessment, with QCAA approval required for summative tasks in Units 3 and 4
Change of approach in statistics: moving closer to a practical study based on sampling rather than a theoretical study
Removal of school choice of topics: all topics in the syllabus must be learned.
