Jim Green is Head of Mathematics at Trinity Catholic College, Lismore. He has written HSC examinations and syllabus writing drafts, and co-authored Nelson Senior Maths 11–12 Specialist Mathematics for the AC.

Sue Thomson
Sue Thomson was head of mathematics at De La Salle Senior College, Cronulla, Director of Teaching and Learning at Hunter Valley Grammar School, an examination writer and assessor for the NSW Board of Studies, and a senior HSC marker. A prolific and successful author, Sue’s interests are in language development, financial literacy and making mathematics accessible to all.
Sue and Judy have written similar series for Victoria, Queensland, WA and the Australian Curriculum.
Judy Binns
Judy Binns was head teacher of mathematics at Mulwaree High School in Goulburn and has taught at Homebush Boys High School. She has wide experience teaching and writing for practical senior mathematics courses and co-wrote the New Century Maths 7-8 series for over 30 years, including new editions for the Australian curriculum.
Klaas Bootsma
Klaas Bootsma was head teacher of mathematics at Ambarvale High School and has taught at Lurnea and Grantham high schools. He was a senior HSC marker, an HSC Advice Line adviser and has been the lead author of the New Century Maths 9-10 series for over 30 years.
Sarah Hamper
Sarah Hamper is head teacher of mathematics at Cheltenham Girls High School and has taught at Abbotsleigh, Meriden and Tara Anglican schools. Her expertise is in using modelling, problem solving and ICT in mathematics learning, gifted and talented students and girls' education. Sarah co-wrote New Century Maths 9-10.
Margaret Willard
Margaret Willard has extensive experience writing units of work designed for distance education and was Manager at NSW TAFE’s distance education unit. She has served on the executive of MANSW (the Mathematical Association of NSW), managed its postsecondary programs and has presented at both MANSW and TAFE conferences.
Margaret Grove
Margaret Grove OAM has spent over 30 years teaching mathematics, most of that time specialising in HSC Mathematics at TAFE. She completed a Master’s degree in Pure Mathematics at the University of Sydney. Margaret has written several HSC texts and study guides, including the bestselling Maths in Focus series for Mathematics Advanced and Extension 1.
Jim Green
Jim Green was Head of Mathematics at Trinity Catholic College, Lismore where he has spent most of his teaching career of over 35 years. He has taught pre-service teachers at the Southern Cross University, written HSC examinations and syllabus writing drafts, composed questions for the Australian Mathematics Competition and co-authored Nelson Senior Maths 11-12 Specialist Mathematics for the Australian Curriculum.
Janet Hunter
Janet Hunter is Head of Mathematics at Ascham School, Edgecliff, and has worked in the finance sector and in tertiary/adult education as a lecturer. She has been a senior HSC exam writer, marker and judge, an HSC Advice Line adviser, served on the editorial team for the MANSW journal, Reflections, and co-authored Nelson Senior Maths 11-12 Specialist Mathematics for the Australian Curriculum.
Robert Yen
Robert Yen has taught at Hurlstone Agricultural, Ambarvale and Eagle Vale high schools. He co-edited Reflections, the MANSW journal, and wrote General Mathematics HSC study guides for The Sydney Morning Herald. Robert has been writing for New Century Maths 7–12 for over 30 years and now works for Nelson Cengage as the mathematics publisher and series editor.
